The book Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw teaches you the
importance of language and social interaction the main character, Liza, is
learning how to see people around her but mostly she is learning about herself.
When the book is presented Liza is the flower girl. The book starts off under a
chapel where the mother a daughter is waiting on a cab, who are later presented
as miss and Mrs. Eynsfordhill. Mrs. Eynfordhill’s son, who is presented as
Freddy, is going to get a cab for them. The flower girl runs into him she
already knew his name for some odd reason. When she is in front of the chapel
Mrs. Eynsfordhill asked her how she knew her son but she dances around the
question. She happens across Henry Higgins and Colonel Pickering, two of the
world’s most renowned linguist.
The flower girl (Liza) is very consistent with her questions
about how Mr. Higgins is taking notes on her about how she talks. The gentlemen
then get on the bus with the Eynfordhills and they are gone. Freddy turns with
the cab but his family is gone so Liza gets into the cab and tells Freddy bye
then leaves. The next day she find out who the gentlemen were that where under
the chapel. She find out where they are and goes to Mr. Higgins house to tell
him she need help on speaking properly. So he takes her into him home to teach
her, but he does not know how to treat a lady. So his house keeper Mrs. Pearce
takes her to learn how to look presentable for proper evening with the
gentlemen.
Liza has been living with Mr. Higgins for about a month so he
thinks she’s ready to meet his mother. Now Liza is greeted at Mrs. Higgins how
by the Eynfordhills and the Higgins again so now the tea party has started. Liza
comes late to the party but she looks fantastic. But the topics of conversation
were a little unsubtle to everyone. That is just summery of its amazing book
this a great book that I would recommend to anyone. It is a really great
story.
